Work Location: Corporate Office 676 Independence Parkway, Suite 120, Chesapeake, Virginia 23320

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Weekend Availability: ON CALL (Schedule may change according to Business needs.)

JOB DESCRIPTION

DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES

The Compliance Manager will assume overall responsibility for the compliance of specific programs of Gateway. The Compliance Officer will monitor the program’s guidelines and provide periodic and regular reports as needed on matters pertaining to all programs. Works with other departments, as needed, to evaluate the necessity, appropriateness, and effectiveness of behavioral health services provided for the purpose of maintaining quality care through judicious use of resources. Specific focus should be placed on documentation as required by DBHDS and DMAS.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare, submit, and present periodic reports as may be required to provide clear communication to the leadership of Gateway for crisis services compliance oversight.
  • Quarterly Quality Record Review including review of clinical assessment and reassessments, ISP, and ISP reviews, assessed risks, appropriateness of services, ISP based on assessment.
  • Provides reports for internal and external use for performance evaluation and improvement. Interprets National and State standards, rules, regulations, and best practice guidelines relevant to Gateway Services programs, policies, standards, and guidelines on corporate compliance, utilization management, and quality assurance.
  • Compile/monitor reports on compliance with federal and state standards and regulations; and produce audit data universes.
  • Plan/execute risk assessments.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Above average oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff members.
  • Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel and skills in database management and record keeping.
  • General knowledge of various employment laws and practices.
  • Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources programs.
  • Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Manage internal auditors and develop improvement strategies to maximize staff productivity.
  • Plan/execute programs that enhance staff knowledge; design/implement/maintain a quality measurement and quality rating system; and maintain criteria used in clinical decision making, service determination and utilization based on current best practices and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with supervisor and department leaders to develop annual Quality Improvement Plan.
  • Conduct and/or actively participate in various forms of communication with team members, clients, and partners.
  • Represents the organization at various meetings, functions, and events.
  • At all times, conduct interactions with clients, team members and partners in a manner that advances Gateway Service’s culture and reputation.
  • Ensures the organization is constantly operating in compliance with Virginia DBHS regulations and local, state, and federal laws.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Assist and collaborate with organization leadership to develop and meet program goals
  • Assist and collaborate with agencies and partners to carry out the program’s goals and objectives
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in Community Mental Health
  • Maintains knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in Community Mental Health along with an intimate knowledge of Virginia DBHDS regulations and HIPPA requirements

EDUCATION, LICENSURE, AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
  • A master’s degree may be preferred.
