OUR PROGRAM FOCUS

Meet The Challenge

We are prepared to meet these challenges and social barriers head-on by providing person-centered therapeutic services to vulnerable individuals. All services will be primarily offered in the home, with additional community-based services being provided by other agencies.

Wraparound Interventions

Our services include: psychosocial assessments, life skills, independent living skills, communication skills, social skills, 24-hour crisis intervention, substance abuse education, case management, and collaboration with other agencies to obtain needed services. Authorization for services is provided at the time of a referra

Empowering Individuals

Our services are centered on empowering individuals and equipping them with the tools necessary to support the family unit. Referrals will be accepted from the criminal justice system, community services boards, schools, social services, families, foster care agencies and other human services agencies in the Hampton Roads and Western Tidewater area.

Mental Health Skill Building with a FOCUS on Healthy Independent Living

Our over 20 years of combined mental health experiences, Gateway Services, LLC is prepared and committed to helping individuals meet their challenges by providing interventions, which emphasize wellness, recovery, and resilience. It is our mission to assist individuals with developing the necessary skills to enhance their well-being, experience success, and fulfillment of their aspirations.

Our Gateway Mental Health Services Program Director is Cara Mellanson, MPA QMHP-A/C who leads a team of psychologists, licensed professional therapists, and qualified mental health skill builders.

Our Gateway Services Program Includes

  • An emphasis on trauma-sensitive, culturally, gender and developmentally appropriate community-based services
  • A variety of housing options for qualified participants.
  • Licensed Clinical Psychologist who serves as the Clinical Director
  • Licensed Professional Counselor as our Program Director
  • An established collaborative partnership with Medication Management agency; Alpha Psychiatry 

REQUIREMENTS FOR SERVICES

AGE REQUIREMENT

In order to receive Mental Health Skill Building services, you must be 18 years or older 

MUST HAVE A MENTAL HEALTH DIAGNOSIS

Must be diagnosed with a serious mental illness that either currently or in the past. resulted in the following 

FOLLOWED BY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • A psychiatric hospitalization;
  • Residential or nonresidential crisis stabilization;
  • Intensive community treatment (ICT) or program of assertive community treatment (PACT) services;
  • Placement in a psychiatric residential treatment facility as a result of decompensation; or
  • A temporary detention order (TDO) evaluation, pursuant to § 37.2-809 B of the Code of Virginia.
