Community Stabilization
Gateway Services offers a community stabilization program for adults, children, and adolescents. While experiencing a psychiatric crisis, an individual may be unable to care for themselves. If your loved one is unable to care for themself, isolated from their community, or at risk of homelessness, hospitalization, or incarceration—our community stabilization service is here to help.
In order to qualify for the program, the in-crisis individual should be:
- Virginia Medicaid eligible.
- At high risk for psychiatric hospitalization, homeless due to mental illness; or require intervention by the mental health or criminal justice system due to inappropriate social behavior.
- Isolating themselves from others.
- Unable to perform daily duties, resulting in putting their health and safety at risk.
- Unable to recognize when they are putting themselves in danger.
Our Community Stabilization program accepts a variety of referrals. In the best situations, this can be a self-referral. However, oftentimes this is community referrals, physician referrals, family/friend referrals, school referrals, therapists/psychiatric referrals, and referrals from the Department of Social Services.
If any of the above apply to the in-crisis individual, please contact us to see if you qualify for our services.
